This film touched on the
progression of illusion in art. The goal of the works described in the video
was to create as much depth as possible. That was where illusions came in. The
artist utilized illusory tools such as linear perspective to give the
perception of depth and space on a 2D surface. However, if you move from one
spot the illusion is lost. I thought it interesting how the video made a
connection between the great painters of the past and the special effects in
present day movies. It made the statement that there was a progression from the
paintings to the movies due to the fact that they both utilize the linear
perspective to trick the eye.
