The Photographer’s Eye Response

This article spoke on the development of modern day photography as well as the modern day photographer. The advent of the camera posed a unique question to the art community. Is photography art? Like the article pointed out there were many that did not consider it an art.
"This industry, by invading the
territories of art, has become art's most mortal
enemy."
As an avid photographer myself I whole heartedly believe it to be an art form. This debate continues still to this day. Granted, it may not be as heated as it once was. The traditional visual artist considers art to be creation and how could clicking a button be truly creating art?  The photographer may not be blending colored paints or creating texture with a brush; however, they have their own tools in creating an image.  Szarkowski touched on a few of them including details, time, framing and vantage point. All of those elements come together at the hands of the photographer to create artwork within a photo.
